Join an innovative outdoor business as a Maintenance Specialist Technician

The Nikwax Group operates within the growing international Outdoor industry, providing a range of aftercare products for a variety of clothing, footwear and equipment, as well as unique waterproof systems available through our premium outdoor clothing brand Páramo. The business has successfully managed its way through the recent Covid 19 crisis and has ambitious growth and development plans for the future. We are looking for a Maintenance Specialist Technician to support our busy Supply Team and to contribute towards our ongoing success.

The Role

Ensure Supply machinery and equipment is available, effective and fit for use, by performing routine maintenance and repairing machinery breakdowns by:

  • diagnosing machinery problems and solving them utilising electrical, electronic or pneumatic skill sets
  • performing routine maintenance on all equipment and machinery as scheduled
  • ensuring machinery breakdowns are efficiently and effectively repaired and recorded
  • maintaining a clean and safe workshop, advising appropriate people of unsafe working environments’ or unsafe machinery
  • understanding and being competent with the operation of all Supply equipment
  • reporting on repeating machine breakdowns to Maintenance Manager
  • maintaining a healthy stock of consumables for machinery and also equipment for respective areas
  • proposing and implementing approved solutions to increase capacity and efficiency of all equipment and machinery
  • providing backup to production teams during periods of high demand.

The Person will be

  • experienced working in a production environment
  • experienced in engineering, electronics and pneumatics
  • logical in approach to problems
  • able to drive things through to a conclusion
  • educated to grade C or above in GCSE or equivalent, in English and Mathematics.

You will be working in a busy, industrious factory environment on the rural East Sussex/Kent border; due to the location you must have your own transport.

Join an innovative outdoor business as our Chemical and Textile Technology Manager

Nikwax Outdoor Innovation is recognised internationally as the leader in innovative, high performance, sustainable aftercare products, and material systems for outdoor people. We’ve got over 44 years’ of experience keeping arctic explorers, mountaineers and outdoor people, drier and more comfortable in the most extreme environments and wild weather.

We’re looking for a Chemical and Textile Technology Manager to drive the development of new aftercare, fabric and material systems.

The Role

You'll be:

  • managing our product development team, and working closely with the innovation and product management teams to refine, develop and implement new ideas and updates across our range of sub-brands, delivering product growth and increasing our market share.
  • developing product key performance measures in line with market demands, and then translating these into key communicable benefits and features for handover to the product information team
  • analysing and evidencing product testing results, and ensuring data and narrative is recorded in project and job decision lists
  • managing and coaching decision making within development projects
  • developing staff within the team, maximising their potential, and fulfilling the rigor of business needs
  • responsible for the expenditure and resources within the development team.

The Person will be

  • organised with strong leadership skills
  • driven, with great technical experience
  • passionate about the environment and outdoor pursuits
  • educated to a degree standard in chemistry.

Due to our rural location own transport will be required.
